The Duskbloods (Network Test)

I was able to be a part of the network test for the upcoming From Software game, The Duskbloods.  Not much was known about this game until days leading up to the network test as content creators shared what they learned from a private event they attended and played the game at in the studio in Japan.  From what I played it seems the game has a story mode but its main focus is on a multiplayer Dusk Battle mode that is PvPvE where there are stages of fighting CPU enemies to get rewards that let you progress to further phases which end in the top three of eight players for the match facing each other and fighting to determine the victor.  I have very strong feelings about From Software games.  I have only played Bloodborne and Elden Ring and between both games probably haven't even gotten ten hours of gameplay.  Both games I've started and gotten to points where I'd lose a bunch and then start up other games and maybe go back and start over again months or years later for the same to happen.  I wanted to try Duskbloods to see if I can try it for free.

I feel the main aspect of this game, the Dusk Battle, is strictly for fans of the devs games in general.  I did worse in this part than I did in the previous games I played.  But what little of the story mode I was able to play as it was limited in this network test, I feel I enjoyed more than the previous games, which those I enjoyed and still yearn to play them again, maybe when I have a lot of time off from work so I can really sink a ton of time into the game or have a way of playing it more, like getting Elden Ring on the Switch 2 so I can play during my lunch break from work but that will wait till it goes on sale since I already got it full price on the PS5 and am still very much playing Pokopia along with the backlog I already have on the Switch 2, which is mostly games I had since the first Switch.  But Duskbloods was great in its story mode, not much seen in regards to the story but the presentation piqued my curiosity.

The thing I enjoyed the most in Duskbloods is definitely the art style.  This is definitely my favorite of the From Software games which I generally like the art style in general with their games.  So I'm excited to see more information as it comes out for this game but the main thing that will be a determining factor for me if I get the game is to see how much the story mode is expanded.  If the game is mostly just the Dusk Battle mode and the story barely has more to it than what is played in the network test, basically serving as just a tutorial for the game, then I will likely pass on the game but if the story mode is a full blown story that offers a lot more then I will likely consider it but wait for a sale unless it's revealed that the story is as expansive as Elden Ring and is praised at or near the same level.  But I doubt I'll be getting this game near its launch, especially since that's supposed to be before the end of this year and I already have plans to play Silent Hill Townfall, Control Resonant, the Zelda Ocarina of Time remake, GTA6 and Path of Exile 2.
