Heretic

I went into this with moderate expectations and it did well to surpass them. I felt the writing was superb and the acting was well done as well. Cinematography was what I would expect of an A24 film which I feel has an above average standard.

I enjoyed the thought provoking nature on religion and how it goes in both ways of showing the good and the bad of religion especially organized religion, in its powerful emotional support but also its logical fallacies, respectively. I felt it doesn’t try to have you see it one way or another but rather see both sides and make up your own mind in the end like a spiritual battle of the mind and the heart.

The movie is not scary with exception of a few jumps in its framing but rather is an intense thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat not knowing what will happen next as at any moment it feels he is capable of anything. I definitely recommend this one to fans of intense films even if they don’t like horror movies but most of all recommend this one to those who have an interest in theology.
