Resident Evil (Original)

Earlier this year I played the original Resident Evil game again. I’ve played it what’s felt like a hundred times by now and with RE being one of my favorite video game series’ I was super excited.

The pure nostalgia. I know the mansion layout and puzzles like the back of my hand and the older I get the more appreciate the original game. The GameCube remake is my favorite in the series but this one along with the rest of the trilogy on PS1 certainly walked so the rest of the series can run.

The cheesy dialogue in its writing and delivery, to the classic jump scare of the dog jumping through the window, to the gothic horror vibes in its mansion environment and puzzles and item management and classic soundtrack, this survival horror. I played it on the PS5 and I recommend anyone that wants to see where it all started to try it out. I’m biased with this one so I can’t speak at any level of objectivity but at the least but I feel for anyone that hasn’t played it, it’s worth a try for at least the experience of history in gaming.
