Super Mario Galaxy

For the hype of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie I got the Mario Galaxy Switch 2 pack with both games.  Mario Galaxy is one of the Mario games I didn't play until later in life when there was a port of it for Switch 1 in the Mario 3D All Stars Collection.  But I was eager to play it again as I enjoyed it the first time and feel it's my favorite story in the Mario series.  Also the addition with the orchestral music is one of my favorite things from this entry that brings so much life to the game.

In playing it again, I'm enjoying the even more crisp graphics on the Switch 2 and I am enjoying the gameplay.  But the thing I have to mention are the motion controls.  When doing simple like collecting the star bits and shooting them or some of the slower paced traversal is ok and some of it is pretty fun but the more interactive parts like quicker traversal, or balancing on the ball, or gliding through space can get very annoying and cumbersome especially in the later galaxies where you are expected to do them more quickly.  I just don't like motion controls because even though there are certainly worse out there, still these are just getting annoying to use.

I do like how they added more lore and story in this entry that is actually very impactful.  It's interesting how the story goes into a lore of reincarnation similar to that of the Zelda universe, where it's like all the Mario stories exist as reincarnations of each other.  At least that's how I take it.   If they adapt the main game story right for the movie they could have something really good on their hands with the Mario Galaxy movie.  Rosalina is such a great character and I wish they would cover more backstories with characters like her.  This kind of reminds me of what I like so much with Mario RPG in regards to the character development.  Besides that, I don't have much to add here but this is definitely a game worth playing for all Mario fans but for gaming or even just platformer fans, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, especially if you're not a fan of motion controls.
