The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

It's been many moons since I've seen this one all the way through but I feel for a while when I was working a job where there were movies playing in the background, this one was one a lot or at least the battle at Helm's Deep. So I've seen that scene plenty of times but it was cool to see the whole movie again in continuing my journey through the trilogy with my fiancé for her first time watching them. This time when watching it, nothing really stuck out to me too much. I enjoyed the movie but that was about it. The only thing that brought extra enjoyment was seeing all the moments that became memes from the movie and wondering why so many came from Two Towers specifically. Of course I'd argue the biggest meme came from Fellowship with the "one does not simply walk into Mordor" quote from Boromir. But the reward for meme quantity definitely belongs to the Two Towers, which I can certainly say now since I'm actually writing this after watching Return of the King as well.

But I would say The Two Towers might not have left any new impressions on me but the enjoyment I found with Fellowship was continued over with respect to its filmmaking from the acting, to the cinematography, music, set and costume and makeup design. Only thing would be the editing that had its flaws again but that's more due to special effects from the time becoming dated. That makes me appreciate filmmakers like Chris Nolan who strive to do practical effects as much as possible to avoid the shortcomings of time being unkind to the film. But even though there are multiple scenes when you can tell the actors are in front of a green screen, it usually is so quick for my tastes that it doesn't detract much from the immersion except for maybe at most a second or two. Again not really an issue with the editing, just them doing the best with what they had at the time.
