Tron
In preparation for seeing the new Tron movie this week I started watching the first two. I haven’t seen the first Tron movie since I was a kid and forgot how delightfully terrible it is. Everything from the writing to the overacting to the music and especially the special effects is just milk sitting over the decades. It was surprising to see Wendy Carlos composed the music but makes sense with its aesthetic which works for the film but I guess it took me surprise because I don’t remember it being so over the top and zany.
I would say that its visuals are definitely a vibe that I can understand why it had its following. In the end it definitely is its own aesthetic that no other movie can replicate. So it is kind of endearing.
Also it was interesting seeing David Warner play a very different character from I was used to seeing him play as Bob Crachit in A Christmas Carol where George C Scott played Scrooge. The acting was over the top but still commendable.
