Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park
I got to see this relic of the past and it was a movie. I’m not the biggest Kiss fan. I like a few of their songs just never got into more than those but I watched this with my girlfriend in honor of her father’s memory who was a huge Kiss fan as he showed her this movie when she was growing up. It’s cheesy and cringe and at times enjoyable as being a movie that’s so bad it’s entertaining but through so much of it, the pacing is just slow. Too many establishing shots that don’t serve the story or artistry in any meaningful way. Just very amateurish feeling. But for being a fun movie where you see the band kick ass and be goofy, it’s a fun time I’m sure any fan of the band would enjoy this but I wouldn’t recommend to anyone who isn’t part of the Kiss Army. Even for those who enjoy so bad they’re good movies, I wouldn’t recommend because of how much slow the pacing is, it makes a Stanley Kubrick film look like an Edgar Wright film. And I love Kubrick but he uses the slow pacing to great artistic effect.
I heard this movie was pitched as A Hard Day’s Night meets Star Wars and I would say it definitely achieves that.
