The Big Lebowski

My opinion of this movie has a huge nostalgia bias and not even from seeing the movie when it came out but rather seeing its trailer on TV as a kid and my brother playing in the pool dunking each other saying “where’s the money Lebowski?” I eventually saw the movie when in college as it was taught and studied in a screenwriting class and as soon as I saw it, I was in love. I have a great appreciation for all the movies taught in film school but this one was different. Maybe it was a want to see it since I was a kid loving the light hearted commercials only to be treated by the movie that had so much more laughs and heart that showed the commercials barely scratched the surface.

I don’t officially practice the religion of Dudeism but I understand why it has the following it does as there is so much to get from this movie and the general vibe of the Dude. I’ve seen this movie countless times and can watch it what feels as infinitely more. It is my favorite comfort film. I recommend this one be given at least one viewing but recommend rewatches as there are so many jokes that come subtly that I still find comedy in quick lines and nuances of the acting performances. All around great film in every aspect of the filmmaking craft.
